Carmaker Audi buys bikemaker Ducati

in 1.12 billion USD

Audi buys Ducati for 1.12 billion USD
German luxury carmaker, Audi, has agreed to buy Italian bikemaker, Ducati, for a sum of 1.12 billion USD. Audi will also inherit all of Ducati’s current financial liabilities.

Volkswagen owned Audi were earlier negotiating with Ducati owner Investindustrial to buy out the Italian exotic bike maker, but it has now culminated to a deal. The marriage of the two automotive giants fits well with Audi’s ambitious ‘Project Eagle,’ aimed at elevating VW to becoming the world’s largest auto manufacturer.

Earlier, Andrea Bonomi, Investindustrial head had stated that Ducati was looking for a world class industrial partner for its future growth & wanted to sell the iconic brand for one billion Euros.

The purchase will make Ducati the 11th brand in VW’s portfolio. Ducati sold 42,000 motorcycles through 2011 & commands a nine percent share in its segment. The company has been making all the right moves over the past few years, launching segment leading motorcycles like its versatile Multistrada 1200, the Diavel power cruiser & 1199 Panigale race replica.

Audi Q7 V12 TDI specifications and features

new Audi Q7 V12 TDI
Audi’s stock in trade, the Q7 3.0 TDI is a finely balanced machine. It may tip the scales at an ungodly 2.3 tonnes, but with 56kgm of twist available & 241bhp of power, even this most basic diesel manages to deliver plenty of performance. Truth be told, you don’t need more than a 3.0 litre V6 to power a car like the Q7. But what’s luxury if not the exceptional, taken to excess. What indeed?

Review and testdrive of new Audi A4 features and reviews

New audi a4
Audi’s smooth new look was first embodied in the steel & aluminium of the B8 A4 that made its debut here in 2008. It was bigger & better in every way than the old A4 and, helped by strong engines & classy interiors, steadily gained ground in the entry level luxury car market. However, with Mercedes’ facelifted C class & an all new BMW 3 series on the way, Audi needed to re arm the A4. Enter the refreshed 2012 Audi A4.

Gold Audi R8 spotted

Gold Audi R8 spotted

It comes as no surprise that we find this golden Audi R8 super car in the oil rich capital of over the top tuning, Dubai. What sets this particular R8 apart from all the other GT machines that have undergone the King Midas treatment is that instead of blinding onlookers with a brilliant reflective surface, draws them closer to adore the matte-gold super car. This rendition makes the matte-black R8 with its stealth like finish look rather dull.

The five-door coupe from Audi combines supreme, long-distance comfort with a sporty character. The interior noise level is very low even at fast highway speeds, with the V6 engines providing refined acoustic feedback as their power unfolds.

The excellent vibrational comfort likewise contributes to the atmosphere of cultured tranquility on board. This is the result of painstakingly tuning all components, systematic hydraulic damping in the axle and drivetrain bearings and the extremely stiff body. The body is comprised primarily of aluminum and high-tech steels, making it extremely lightweight and safe. The large rear hatch opens wide to reveal a large, extremely usable luggage compartment that is very easy to load. Its 535-liter (18.89 cu ft) capacity swells to a volume of 1,390 liters (49.09 cu ft) with the rear seat backrests folded down.

With the Audi A7 Sportback, which will be rolling into dealerships in the fall at a base price of €51,600, Audi is taking up a new design line representing elegance on a grand scale. The five-door coupe is 4.97 meters (16.31 ft) long and 1.91 meters (6.27 ft) wide, but only 1.42 meters (4.66 ft) high. Its long hood, the short front overhang, the long wheelbase, the sportily flowing C-pillars and the sharply dropping rear create a dynamic overall impression. The five-door coupe is an aesthetic athlete with a wide, powerful road stance.

AUDI UNVEILS TRACK-READY TT GT4

AUDI UNVEILS TRACK-READY TT GT4

Audi has taken the wraps off a new track-only TT model. Dubbed the Audi TT GT4 concept, the coupe is largely based on the range-topping TT RS and is aimed at private racers.

Developed by the Technical Development and Audi’s Quattro GmbH division, the TT GT4 sports a number of changes to help with its on-track prowess. Starting with a motorsports body, the TT GT4 was then fitted with a racing-spec roll cage, plastic windows, a new fuel tank and the same spoilers found on the TT RS.
Also borrowed from the TT RS is the TT GT4’s 2.5L five-cylinder engine, developing 340 horsepower. That power is shifted via Audi’s S-tronic gearbox with a differential lock.
To ensure the TT GT4 stays glued to the track, Audi has fitted it with a revised suspension – including adjustable dampers – and race-ready 18 inch wheels.
The TT GT4 will be sold in Europe and Asia, carrying a starting price of about $156,000. Audi currently doesn’t have any plans to sell the TT GT4 in North America
