New Nissan Sunny Auto is likely by Feb 2013

The automatic option will only be available only on the petrol variant & will feature a basic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) 'box for the Indian market to keep costs down. This will help Nissan pitch the Sunny AT against the Maruti Swift Dzire AT which is available with a four speed auto 'box on the petrol variant & is the cheapest automatic transmission equipped saloon in the market.
In terms of pricing, we expect the Sunny AT to be priced at around Rs 80,000 more than the Sunny petrol manual variant.

Nissan Micra Price specification features reviews

Nissan has entered the Indian hatchback market with the launch of Nissan Micra. Nissan Micra is giving head on competition to new Swift, Hyundai i20, Volkswagen Polo and its own brother Renault Pulse. Nissan Micra is a good looking car and is available in both petrol and diesel version. It has better space than smaller hatches like Hyundai Santro and Maruti WagonR.
Nissan Micra has a bigger suspension setup which gives it a planted and sedan like ride. The back seat is spacious and is very comfortable. 3 people can easily fit into the back seat. Nissan Micra comes with electric start/stop button which takes the hassles of starting the engine using a key. Other key features include two trip meters, automatic climate control, automatic folding rear view mirrors and 15″ alloy wheels.

Nissan Sunny vs Skoda Rapid camparison reviews features specifications
Nissan Sunny vs Skoda Rapid camparison reviews features specifications
After we drove new Nissan Sunny in petrol guise, we felt with a diesel engine under its hood, the new car may become a sure shot winner. But when the Sunny diesel was finally launched at the end of the last year, the company priced it a bit too ambitiously. It’s a probably a reflection of confidence Nissan has in its new mid sizer which is poised to turn fortunes of company around. So will customers see Sunny in the same light? Let’s remember that this car deftly straddles the lower & upper ends of the mid size segment, but now in diesel guise, it comes perilously close to the more upmarket Skoda Rapid, which is our current champ. So is the addition of a frugal diesel to the practical Sunny worth the extra money? Or does it make sense to fork out around Rs 25000/- more for the Rapid?
Looks matter
With its class leading 2600mm wheelbase, the Sunny is a very big car, but what is astonishing is that despite its size, it is a full 108kg lighter than the Rapid which is a great tribute to Nissan’s lightweight V platform on which the Micra hatch is also based. The Sunny’s big dimensions & splashes of chrome give it a distinctive & mature stance, & from many angles it looks like a mini Teana. The large rear houses a spacious 490 litre boot, but the downside to this is a massive rear overhang which ruins the car’s proportions. The bulging bumper & thin tyres don’t help, & when viewed from the rear it looks quite odd.
The Skoda Rapid on the other hand has none of these problems. The Rapid is basically a Volkswagen Vento with the traditional Skoda nose stuck on it. But it does look attractive in the flesh & the combination of a large grille in the company of a chrome strip & big headlights lends it character. The side of the car remains unchanged, which means the Rapid, like the Vento has a rather boring profile, but it looks more balanced than the Nissan. The altered bootlid, taillights & rear bumper don’t look out of place either. While the Sunny looks more distinctive the Skoda definitely has better proportions.

Official: Nissan announces "Power 88" business plan, all-new vehicles every six weeks for six years [w/video]
Carlos Ghosn has announced the Nissan Power 88 midterm business plan, effective immediately, containing goals that will raise a number of eyebrows. Built on four pillars emphasizing "brand and sales power enhancement, growth, sustainable mobility and mobility for all," Power 88 is in effect from now until 2016, at the end of which time Nissan wants eight percent of global market share and eight-percent operating profit (hence the "88"). That would represent a 2.2-percent increase in market share and a 1.9-percent rise in operating profit versus last year's levels.
The strategy for success includes rolling out, "on average, an all-new vehicle every six weeks for six years" to cover 92 percent of global market segments, launching 90 new technologies over those six years and reaching cumulative electric vehicle sales of 1.5 million units between Renault and Nissan.
Sales in BRIC markets are expected to grow significantly, and Nissan plans to build a factory in Brazil to support efforts there. Much more will be made of Infiniti as well, with sales expected to rocket from 150,000 last year to 500,000 in 2016 and a product portfolio of "at least 10 vehicles." That would account for a projected 10 percent of global luxury market sales.
Ghosn has his eye on joining General Motors, Toyota and Volkswagen in the massive sales game, apparently because he sees that as the scale necessary to meet future challenges. Whether or not the automaker can manage such scale remains to be seen. There's a video and a press release with the nitty gritty after the jump.

In 2012, Nissan will have a production capacity of 1.2 million units in China. China has become - and will continue to be - Nissan's largest single global market. Nissan aims for a 10% share of the Chinese market. Nissan will also increase its presence in Brazil, Russia and India, as well as in the next wave of emerging markets.

Nissan Juke Nismo Concept isn't a sure thing, yet

With Nismo set to expand its scope and product range in the coming years, Nissan's in-house tuning division needs to start with something both customizable and attainable. And it appears the Juke is it.
Nismo has done the standard cadre of mods to the Juke, including the fitment of larger Brembo brakes with slotted rotors up front, stiffer springs and shocks, 19-inch wheels with performance rubber and an assortment of interior baubles to match the racy exterior. The body kit isn't just a looker – it's functional – with the revised front and rear bumpers, grille and rear diffuser all aiding aerodynamics.

Nissan Says Electric Cars to Be 10% of Demand by 2020

Nissan Motor Co. Chief Executive Officer Carlos Ghosn said electric cars will make up at least 10 percent of global vehicle demand by 2020, depending on conditions.
“Ten percent by 2020 is very reasonable,” Ghosn said, referring to research by Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Demand estimates are based on Nissan’s assessment of rising energy prices and tougher environmental regulations, Ghosn said at a news conference today after the opening of the automaker’s new headquarters in Yokohama, south of Tokyo.
Nissan, Japan’s third-largest carmaker, today unveiled an electric car able to travel 100 miles (160 kilometers) on a full charge, saying it plans to start sales in the U.S., Europe and Japan next year. Nissan spent 17 years developing the car’s lithium-ion battery, which it expects to help make the automaker the biggest supplier of electric vehicles.
“It’s an aggressive number but I think it’s achievable as the number of eco-conscious people will grow,” said Yasuhiro Matsumoto, senior analyst at Shinsei Securities Co. Ghosn gave that forecast partly to urge governments, manufacturers and his company’s partners to cooperate in promoting electric cars, Matsumoto added.
The price of the five-passenger electric Leaf will be “competitive,” Ghosn said at the unveiling. Excluding battery, it will cost about the same as an equivalent gasoline-powered car, he said.
‘Mass Market’
“We are going to go for mass market,” Ghosn said. “The car will be reasonable for consumers with zero emissions, and that is just a cherry on the cake.”
The compact Leaf is modified from the platform used for Nissan’s Tiida hatchback, sold in the U.S. as the Versa.
The car’s lithium-ion battery pack can be fully recharged at a 200-volt outlet in eight hours, or in less than 30 minutes from a so-called fast-charge station, according to Nissan. The automaker is preparing to produce about 350,000 electric vehicles a year globally.
Nissan aims to use a $1.6 billion U.S. loan to retool a factory in Tennessee so battery-powered cars can be made on the same line that currently produces hybrids and other models. The automaker will also receive grants and loans from the U.K. and Portugal to build factories for lithium-ion batteries. The company hasn’t disclosed the amount of aid it will receive.
The Japanese automaker has said it will have the capacity to produce 200,000 electric vehicles in the U.S., 100,000 in Europe and 50,000 in Japan. Nissan and partner Renault SA plan to offer electric vehicles in the U.S. and Japan starting in 2010 and globally in 2012.
Hybrids
Automakers have begun to develop gasoline-electric hybrid models as higher fuel prices and rising environmental concerns spur demand. Toyota’s Prius hybrid was the best-selling vehicle in Japan last month, while Honda’s Insight ranked fourth, excluding minicars.
Ghosn has said Nissan didn’t have the financial resources to develop gasoline-electric hybrid technology in the late 1990’s. The automaker is planning to deploy electric powertrains in compact cars and hybrids for bigger and luxury models.
Nissan aims to sell a hybrid car using its own system in fiscal 2010 in Japan and the U.S. Currently, the automaker’s sole hybrid, the Altima, uses Toyota technology and is only available in the U.S.

Chevy Volt To Get 230 MPG - Nissan LEAF 367 MPG

General Motors Co. said Tuesday that its new Chevrolet Volt electric car is expected to get 230 miles per gallon in city driving, as the auto maker outlined a raft of vehicles headed to the U.S. market.
The Volt is at the forefront of GM's efforts to reinvigorate a lineup that has lost market share in the U.S., with 25 new vehicles due to be launched by 2011.
